Why won’t College/Scholarship Application sites accept my email address?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

I’m going to go crazy.

I’m a senior and I tried to apply at Saint Louis University online but they won’t accept my e-mail address so I can’t continue.

I just tried to apply for a scholarship and they won’t accept my email address.

I really CAN’T afford to purchase one of those emails that you have to pay for.

I tried my yahoo, hotmail, and aol email and none of them is working. Also, I have an e-mail address at SLU b/c of my high school college credit and that won’t even work?

@aol.com
@yahoo.com
@hotmail.com
@slu.edu

What am I suppose to do? Any other free places I can sign up that will work.

What error does it give you?

Have you tried gmail?

If you’re really crunched, go to namecheap and buy a domain for $9 a year (tell your parents it’s for school, that’s dirt cheap). You can then setup email forwarding and forward to any other account without the source knowing.

Does having NHS, National Honor Society, make much difference on college applications & scholarship offers?

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

My 17 year old is beginning the college search; has a high B average & multiple extracurricular activities. How much weight does being a member of the National Honor Society bear when colleges will be reviewing her applications, both to attend college & to request scholarships?

I was in the NHS in high school. As nice as it was to have the title, it really didn’t help when it came to college scholarships/ applications. All they wanted to know was how well I did on my ACT test.

The number one thing that all colleges look for is the ACT/SAT test score…If you make a really high score then you will have a chance at a good scholarship. If you don’t do so well, then you will have a harder time getting an academic scholarship.
