Ethiopian Heritage College Scholarship

We are excited to make a difference in our community. We are now taking applications for the
Ethiopian Heritage College Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually to a successful applicant to a two or four year college who seeks financial aid. We award $1000.00 per year for the entire time that student remains in a two or four year college, so as long as the student maintains their grades and remains within the school. Project: Elevate Promo Video (Scholarship and Spoken Word)

On October 20, the first BiAnnual event and Poetry Slam contest will be held at UCR called “Project: Elevate.”
The purpose of the event is give away a minimum of 6 scholarships; 2 for Inland Empire high school students, 2 for Riverside Community College students and 2 to UCR students. To win the scholarships, the students will have to submit a Spoken Word piece on the theme of “Elevation” via email or (preferably) YouTube.com.
The event and contest will be hosted by our Sorority, Kappa Theta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. We, and the featured poets will choose the finalist from the submissions and the audience will choose the winners and order when applicable (1st, 2nd). The finalists will not be known until the event.

Admission:
$3 Stage seating (Pillow style only 30 available)
$2 Regular Admission*
FREE Highschool Students (with ID)
*admission does not guarantee seating, get there early!

THIS IS A NON-PROFIT EVENT.
ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARDS THE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS AND PAYMENT TO THE FEATURED ARTISTS.

Ohio Wesleyan University Hosts High School Scholars Jan. 24-25, 2010

Ohio Wesleyan University recently awarded $18,000 Schubert Honors Scholarships to selected academically gifted high school students, who then were invited to campus to compete for additional scholarships. More than 200 attended the Schubert Honors Scholars event on Jan. 24-25, 2010. Here are highlights from the event.

UPO Scholarship Recipients and Their Ambitions

The United Planning Organization, Washington, DC’s community action agency, yearly awards scholarships to deserving DC high school and G.E.D. graduates.
